Crazy Days!

The reason I am titling this post as"Crazy Days" is because my life has just been nuts. I am suppose to go to a festival on Saturday, then to the race on Sunday. Monday I have agreed to host a party (cook out). My brother came to me with the idea for a party a couple of weeks ago.I have been busy trying to make the plans for that. I always want everyone to have fun, be happy and get full.
BBQ
My Grandparents started the Memorial Day parties when I was young. It was a way for family and friends to come together and have a good time.We have not had one in a couple of years so it will be nice to have one again. The party should be a great one because all my friends are coming and there are a lot of games planned. We are going to play volley ball, badminton, catch and my brother even set up a horseshoe game in his back yard.
Horseshoes
We have decided on the menu and are buying all the goodies for the grand day. We have purchased 100 bratwurst just to feed every one. He will cook those on the grill. I am making my Meatball Dish for meatball sandwiches. I am also making macaroni salad, homemade onion dip,and a walnut cake. My friends are bringing food also: Stacy is making a Zesty Taco Dip, Beth is making her Banana Pudding Dish, Michelle is making her mother's wonderful Baked Beans, and my Mother is making Coleslaw.
BBQ 1

My brother is getting a keg so those who do drink will be feeling good. I don't drink so I will sit back with the nondrinkers and watch all the fun.

Plans~Plans~Plans, so much to do and so little time.:-)

Not Enough Time In The Day

A friend of mine,Beth, came to me the day before Mother's day. She starts to whine "Sinni you got to help me!" I give her the look of, oh my what now? She starts to tell me how she has no Mother's day gift for her Mother and no money to just run out and buy one. Then she also tells me that even if she did have the money she did not know what to get her. We sit and talk for a while when she remembers a small project that I did for another friend, Michelle. I had taken pictures of Michelle's children and put them on a Mother's day card for her Mother-in-Law.

Beth wanted the same thing so I said OK. The cards don't take that long for me to make. I had told her my printer was down so I would have to e-mail them to her Husband so he could print them out. Beth needed 2 different cards, one for each Mother. While we were putting together all the little details for the cards Beth remembers another project I had done. She tells me that she would really love me if I made her one. The project she was asking me to do was a very big one. Mother's Day was the next day but I happily agreed.

The project was one I had only done one time and it took me almost 4 months to complete. As a very special gift to my entire family for Christ+mas I made a DVD. I had gathered hundreds of family photos and scanned them to my computer. I added effects in between each photo and had music that played as the pictures came across the screen. I had even added the names to a lot of the photos, for future reference, so the younger family members would know who they were. I had to do a lot of the work in secret. I also had to tell a couple of little fibs. My Mother lives next door and she would come over and ask what I was doing and I would tell her I was blogging. The DVD was beautiful and almost everyone in my family cried.

Beth wanted this for her Mother for Mothers day, the next day. I told her that there was no way I could have it done it that amount of time. I did tell her I would still do it but it would take some time. She was just happy I was even going to try. She gave her Mother the card and told her that she had another gift in the works.

OK, so I was going to make this wonderful belated Mother's day gift for my friend to give to her Mother. I had one big, huge, enormous problem. My printer, copier,SCANNER was not working. How would I get all her pictures into my computer with no scanner. Beth gets depressed then turns to me with a big smile on her face. I know that smile, sometimes that smile scares me. She says as sweetly as she can" Could you take a picture of a each picture with your camera?" I grab the camera "lets give it a try!" I said.
Snappy
The DVD was finished Tuesday night and Beth's Mom, Donna, got to see it before she went to bed. I made 8 copies so her entire family can have one, I even made one for me. Don't worry, I am still not burnt out on taking picture even after 4 days of doing it.Photographer I think I have found something I really enjoy doing and it makes people happy.

I would like to apologize to my blogger friends for not coming around to your blogs as much. There just does not seem to be enough hours in the day.I am going to try to catch up on my blog hopping this weekend.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Smile and Hugs to all :-)

Anniversary

I don't know why some of these thoughts come into my head or even if they are worth putting into words. I have just noticed that it has been a year ago this week that I started blogging. All the memories of this past year are coming back. I sit here with tears streaking down my face. I am having a boo hoo moment?Crying 1

So many thing have changed in the past year. I started blogging because my friend Mike moved away. I called him one day upset and he told me to go to blogger. He said to write about how I was feeling and it would make me feel better. He was so right! Blogging is the greatest gift that I have ever been given.

OK, I got to go blow my noise.Blowing Nose

All the boogies are gone now and I am over my boo hoos. Nose-picker

In order to be able to achieve and maintain happiness we need to, actively, be able to do two things:
Complain and then let go (Dump the baggage, the roadblocks to happiness.)
Openly Express Gratitude (The open expression of gratitude promotes happiness.)After all, everyone has something to be grateful for and/or something to complain about. If you would like to accept the challenge, please follow the appropriate link and do so:

Wordless Wednesday HQ

Taking the Good With the Bad

The Good

I had found out ,this past week, that my son will be getting an award at the end of the school year. He is being awarded for being the top in the whole seventh grade class. His grades are so great that First National Bank is going to honor him with a plaque. I am so proud of him. Shawn had to be held back in the second grade because he could not even read and now just look at him. I know I am being a little silly because I am boasting but I am just so proud.

The Bad
I had a cross that I would wear around my neck. I had put this cross on everyday for the past couple of years. People had always ask me where I got it and I would just tell them it was a gift from God. I don't know where it came from. The cross just popped up one day in my jewelry box. I only own a few choice pieces of jewelry so I know I did not get it from anyone one I know. Something told me to wear it so I did. I always liked the thought that it was a gift from God. On Wednesday I lost my cross. My friend Stacy said that God sent it to me because I needed it and now I don't need it any more so He took it back.

I was always afraid of everything and when I would grab the cross I felt safe. I am not afraid any more, not like I use to be so maybe she is right. I use to be so afraid that I hardly ever left my house and now I go riding 90 mile an hour down the river in an air boat. I am sad that it is gone, but I still have my faith in Jesus and that was the whole point of my cross to begin with.

Breakfast In A Cake Pan

This is my second attempt at a writing a recipe. I have been playing with the idea of starting a new blog with recipes. I need some input on my recipe writing skills. If you like the way I have composed the recipe then please leave me a comment telling me so. Here is a link to my Potato Soup Recipe and I would appreciate it if you would read it also and let me know what you all think. Thanks and Happy cooking:-)

What you will need:

1. Bag of Hash Browns- or you can shred up about 2 or 3 potatoes.
2. 12 oz. bag of shredded cheese, mozzarella, cheddar or my favorite a mix of the 2
3. 1-2 pkg. Of sausage links
4. A dozen eggs
5. Milk ( don’t forget it, I did, Oops)
6. Cake pan
7. Oil

What to do:

1.Saute hashbrowns in oil on medium-high heat for 10-15 minutes or until tenderly moist.Spread hash browns evenly over bottom of pan. 2. Cut sausage links into small pieces. 3. Add to harsh browns and mix together. 4. Sprinkle ¾ of cheese on top. *
5. Then take your eggs and milk and make up a batch of scrambled egg mix. This step can be fun because you can make it your own. You will only need enough of this egg mix to cover the other ingredients. Every one does their scrambled eggs differently so it will be different for each person. Whatever you add to your scrambled eggs can be added at this point: mushrooms, red and green peppers, salt, and pepper.
6. Pour the mix evenly over other ingredients.
7. Place cake pan in over for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
8. Sprinkle remainder of cheese over the top.
9. Cook for another 15-25minutes or until knife inserted into it comes out clean.
10. Let cool then cut into squares.

This can be made up the night before and stored in the refrigerator. Makes for a nice easy breakfast the next day, you just pop it in the oven.

*Hint:
You can freeze your cheese and save it for when you need it. If you add corn starch to it and give it a shake it will keep the cheese from clumping together while in the freezer. I learned this great hint from Minimalist Mommies Blog. She has good ideas, go check her out.

When cooking, have fun and make it your own. You are the one who has to eat it not me, so don’t be afraid to change a recipe to fit you and your family.

As you can see here, little Faith just loved it.

Priceless!

We have been fixing things up around our house and this is just one more little job that was finally completed. This is the cabinet where I hide my pots and pans. They have been falling over for years and I have needed a shelf so it would be more organized. I knew it would give me a lot more space to put other items that should be in there.

Gas to go get shelf-----$3.00

Shelf board and brackets-----$12.00

Husband finally getting off his butt and putting shelf in-----Priceless

Now I have a lot more space and it is easier to get what I need from the cabinet.Bouncy 2
